Long ago, lost in the forest
A man beheld the world's eldest
In circle, dancing in the night
And trees bathin' in torches light

Dark night, O night of revelry
Hailed in their songs and joy to be
They said to the man from the glade
« Dance with us, before the lights fade »

He was brought in to the middle
Of the jig, next to the minstrel
The harp displayed its cheerful tune
The steps pace was heard from the moon

There he sang and danced, sorrowless
There he ran and laughed, in gladness
The mead was good and voices fair
A mad ecstasy filled the air

Hours passed by, weariness came
Exhausted, broken, weak and lame
If he asked for help, none can say
For the pixies had ran away

Down in the earth, in halls of stone
Under the sun, he died alone
Roots and grass as an open tomb
Thus was his fate, thus was his doom

The forest became quiet and still
As the man lied behind the rill
The korrigans apeased their transe
Waiting for the next savage dance
